About Robin

I am Robin Roberts, an expat American therapist residing in Amsterdam, previously living in the United States. I have a generalized psychology practice and work with individuals, families, children, couples and groups. I have a bachelors degree in psychology from University of Massachusetts and a masters degree in social work from University of Rhode Island. I am a licensed clinical social worker with more than a decade of experience.

Over the last decade, I have provided counseling and therapeutic services to various age groups suffering from depression, grief/loss, anxiety, adjustment issues, expat therapy, addiction, social difficulties, trauma, sexual abuse, neglect, domestic violence, elder abuse, self esteem and relationship difficulties, sexuality/gender issues, anger management, care giver stress, and burn out.

Another form of therapy offered is Sound Healing. I have been certified in this type of treatment and the offerings include individual, couples and group sessions. This type of therapy can help reconnect mind and body and remove blockages of trapped stress and trauma we face in our lives.

My experience includes working with patients in a private practice setting addressing the issues listed above. During the years of working in private practice, I have also worked with individuals on parole and probation who have been mandated to treatment, as well as individuals who voluntarily wanted to change their current life situation.

I have significant experience working with forensic issues relating to abuse. I coordinated the NYC Elder Abuse Center’s Multidisciplinary Teams, which worked to improve the way professionals, organizations and systems respond to elder abuse, neglect and financial exploitation. These Multidisciplinary teams worked to decrease fragmentation and bring agencies such as Law, Mental Health, and Medicine together to solve these complex issues.

The clinical approaches I use most in practice include: CBT(Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
, Client Centered
, (DBT) Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
, Solution Focused Brief Therapy
, Narrative therapy, Anger Management
, Supportive Counseling, Strengths Perspective and Coaching.

If any of these issues seem to relate to struggles you are currently experiencing, please feel free to contact me. Reaching out is the first step and often times the hardest. I am happy to conduct a free intake over the phone to answer any questions you may have on the therapeutic process and to see if my services would be the right fit for you. I can be reached at +31(0)628966651.
